It started on Friday with my Wing and I deciding to once again try our skill with moving sets on Beale Street in Memphis. As we progress we realize that Beale is only going to be good up until about 1 am, or until all the gangs and thugs arrive. We talked about how the women who are being accosted and cat called after by the gangs would probably be more on defensive when dealing with any male. However, my wing has a valid point that it might actually make them more relaxed if they were to meet someone as skilled as we were. It does make sense and we are going to have to attempt it one evening.

All in all Friday was kind of a beat night. I opened a few sets, but nothing really comes to mind. I do know that my wing had worked all week and was pretty beat. We decided to head home early and regroup for tomorrow. We were planning some day-game adventures.

Like typical we stopped off at Perkins for our nightly rehash of events. I ordered my food and drink and went to lean back in the booth and relax a bit. There weren’t any sets I saw when we arrived so I figured we would just have to chill and bullshit about the nights events. When I looked behind me I noticed a two set. One curly haired brunette about an 8.5 and a blond with her back to me. The game was on.

I immediately decided that I needed to open the set without being your typical dude trying to pick up in a restaurant. I drew out a tic tac toe board and scored an x in the corner and then wrote your move. I folded the game like a note and went to wash my hands. I dropped it off and continued on. My way back from the bathroom the note was on the corner and I asked them if that was mine. They smiled and said yes. I picked it up and returned to my seat.

They had put another x in the other corner, an O in the middle (different color) and closed it to make it into a smiley face. They wrote underneath it, what does this mean? My wing Josh, says it was a shit test and I should have responded in a stronger frame. VAH members gave me some good ideas for an open ended question, like what do you want it to mean? I like that and I will try it next time. Josh said I should have filled it out quicker and dropped it right back off, but my food was there and I decided it was more important to eat. High value guys think of themselves first and dinner was served.

Anyway I wrote a new board and said that it was tic tac toe and asked if they knew how to play. I agree with VAH members it was a weak frame. I dropped it back off and sit back down. Josh was watching and said they were writing and giggling. Cool we were in.

Just then April the waitress comes over and the other week here is a girl who was totally stand-offish. She was busy but it seemed like she was avoiding our table. Anyway when she sees us tonight, she practically jumped on me and hugged me. She was sitting in my lap and it wasn’t even our table. She pulled up her pant leg to show us her tattoo. Josh then asked her to pick up the game and I was like sure. This was my mistake, it was my game and I should have gotten it. It displayed LV and it is hard felt, but we learn from our mistakes.

So she comes back and says the girls said they lost it. It was obviously they wrote something, but what that was we shall never know. Josh reacted to this and drew out another Tic Tac Toe board and had April take it back at which they replied we were creeping them out. April patted Josh on the back and walked off. A two set and a hired gun all lost within a minute. It was a great night which would lead into a great day on Saturday.

I’ll write about Saturday in a little bit.
